The USWNT’s next major qualification question has a precise date: Friday, November 27, 2026. The United States faces El Salvador in a Concacaf W Championship quarterfinal at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium in Mansfield, Texas, at 8:30 p.m. ET / 7:30 p.m. CT / 5:30 p.m. PT. A U.S. victory would do more than keep a regional title run alive: it would secure a place at the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. That makes this a qualification game to mark on the calendar, even if you usually wait for the final rounds of a tournament to tune in.
The current update: preliminary rosters, not a final squad
Concacaf published the eight teams’ preliminary rosters on November 2. Its announcement says final 23-player squads will be confirmed before the tournament. A player appearing on the preliminary list therefore should not be treated as a confirmed match selection. Source: Concacaf’s November 2 roster announcement.
For me, this is the useful distinction in the buildup: the opponent and qualification stakes are established, while final personnel still need confirmation. A preliminary list can frame questions about selection, but it cannot support a confident starting XI prediction.
What a win settles—and what a loss would leave
Concacaf’s format sends all four quarterfinal winners directly to Brazil 2027. The losing quarterfinalists instead enter a December 2 play-in; its two winners earn places in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament. Winning that Concacaf play-in would therefore keep the route alive, rather than itself secure a World Cup berth. Source: Concacaf’s competition and qualification announcement.

That is why the first game deserves attention beyond its quarterfinal label. A win resolves the World Cup question immediately; the rest of the championship then concerns the regional title. A loss changes both the next opponent pathway and the meaning of the next match. Calling every remaining game a World Cup qualifier without explaining its reward would hide that difference.
The U.S. viewing and travel details
Concacaf lists CBS Sports Golazo Network and Paramount+ as its U.S. English-language broadcast partners, and TelevisaUnivision for U.S. Spanish-language coverage. These are tournament partner details; check the provider’s listing for the exact match channel or stream before kickoff. Source: Concacaf’s official schedule and broadcast announcement.
The stadium’s November 27 event page lists Jamaica–Costa Rica at 4 p.m. local, followed by USA–El Salvador at 7:30 p.m. local. If attending, check the ticket terms for the doubleheader, entry and re-entry instead of assuming a U.S.-game ticket means a standalone session. Source: Texas Health Mansfield Stadium’s event page.
What comes after November 27
| U.S. result | Next scheduled step | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Quarterfinal win | December 1 semifinal, Mansfield: 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT | Brazil 2027 place already secured; face Jamaica or Costa Rica |
| Quarterfinal loss | December 2 play-in, Mansfield: 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT | Compete for a place in the World Cup Play-Off Tournament |
Those dates and bracket paths come from Concacaf’s published match schedule. The championship final and third-place match are in Houston on December 5. Do not book the later U.S. fixture as a certainty before the quarterfinal result.
There is a separate Olympic context: the United States already has a Los Angeles 2028 place as host, according to Concacaf’s qualification announcement. That host berth does not replace the Women’s World Cup qualification process. Brazil and Los Angeles are separate destinations with different routes.
Into Soccer’s watching note
My starting question for this game is how the United States approaches a match that can settle qualification in one evening. Once the final roster is published, look at who is available and how that affects the team’s options. Those are questions for the buildup and match itself; this preview does not claim to have seen a lineup or future performance.

And if the variety of postseason formats is what makes this month confusing, compare the championship route here with our MLS playoff format explainer. The competition name alone does not tell you what one result earns.
